A READING scheme with a planetary theme was launched in Middlesbrough yesterday (July 22).
Youngsters taking part in the summer scheme - part of a national campaign to encourage children to read - each receive a frieze of an imaginary planet.
Every time they visit the library to get a new book they can collect alien stickers to put on the poster.
Children at Easterside Library also picked up free pencils and bookmarks yesterday, as the scheme got underway.
Organiser Rita Williams said: "It's great fun and it's in all the libraries across Middlesbrough this summer.
"The kids get a beautiful glossy collectors' pack and are rewarded each time they read a book. Those that complete the frieze will get a certificate and medal."
