DARLINGTON have denied rumours linking them with Carlisle striker Richie Foran after speculation suggested the Irish striker was on his way to Feethams.
Quakers would like to add to their strike force and several trialists have already thrown their hat into the ring this summer and a number of names, including Foran's, have been mentioned.
Former Leyton Orient striker Neil Gough featured as a substitute last Friday against Newcastle, but he is not moving to Feethams.
And assistant manager Mick Tait insisted they will not be making any signings which require payment of a transfer fee - and that rules out Foran.
Tait said: "Obviously, if a player like that was available we'd be interested. But I don't think he's available to us because we aren't going to pay money out."
Another candidate was former Orient man Iysedan Christie who was a possibility after spending time on trial at Feethams last season.
But Quakers have decided not to pursue their interest in the striker who has been released by the Brisbane Road club.
Quakers tonight take on Rochdale in the second of their three games in the Isle of Man this week on the back of a 3-0 win over the host side on Sunday.
Darlington last took part in the annual Isle of Man tournament two years ago when they finished bottom. But a win tonight will see Quakers reach Saturday's final against either Luton, Burnley or Wrexham.
Matt Clarke and Paul Campbell limped out of Sunday's game with hamstring and ankle injuries respectively and both will miss out tonight with the latter out for up to two weeks.
* Former Darlington keeper David Preece, looks to be on his way out of Aberdeen.
Preece joined the Scottish Premier League club three years ago in a £300,000 transfer from Feethams, but has suffered from injuries and isn't first-choice keeper. He said: "I do not expect the manager to offer me another contract.
"I cannot afford to spend forever on the sidelines. I'm at the stage where my career could pass me by unless I get a change."
l Clinton Morrison's transfer from Crystal Palace to Birmingham is still to be finalised as Andrew Johnson discusses terms over his move in the opposite direction.
Birmingham are understood to have agreed a £4m-plus package with Palace consisting of a £3m payment up front plus £500,000 if they survive in the Premiership while Johnson is valued at around £750,000.
But, while Morrison is all set to move to the Midlands, it is believed that Johnson is holding the deal up while he thrashes out his own terms at Selhurst Park.
The player is desperate to play regular first-team football but is understood to be unwilling to sell himself short in negotiations with the London club.
Birmingham had been hopeful of concluding the deal yesterday ahead of a pre-season friendly with Livingston but it may now drag on for a couple of days.
