VIOLENCE broke out in Darlington Market Square after England's World Cup match against Denmark, a court heard.
Trouble erupted when fans staged an impromptu football match after watching England's three-nil victory in town centre pubs.
Darlington Magistrates' Court heard that about 16 football supporters were playing in the Market Square when two men began fighting.
Police were called and broke up the fight.
Darren McNay, 34, of Starmer Crescent, Darlington, admitted using threatening and abusive words or behaviour yesterday.
The Cleveland Bridge welder also admitted obstructing a police officer in the execution of his duty.
McNay was fined £100 for the public order offence and £200 for obstruction. He was also ordered to pay £60 costs
