Work safety helps causes
SAFETY-conscious workers have helped raise £2,400 for good causes on Teesside. Ten groups have received cheques of between £150 and £300 after workers at the Petroplus Crude Oil Refinery completed a scheduled plant maintenance overhaul without an accident. Staff at the North Tees site carried out regular safety audits to ensure first-class safety performance standards were maintained throughout the 23-day event. Duncan Smith, overhaul manager, said: "We were delighted with the team who delivered a first class safety performance, completing the event without injury. The stop in production involved several hundred additional people on site and more than 82,000 man-hours."
