POLICE are appealing for a taxi driver to come forward following a street attack.
The assault took place in Portman Street, Middlesbrough, in the early hours of yesterday. Officers believe a man involved may have got into a taxi on Linthorpe Road.
They want the driver of a black and yellow taxi, who picked up a white man outside Riley's between 1.45am and 2am before turning on to Southfield Road, to contact them on (01642) 303126.
Anyone else who was in the Portman Street area at the time is asked to call the same number.
The taxi passenger is described as about 5ft 8in tall, of stocky build and wearing a white Ellesse top and cream or white trousers.
