Strike action planned on the Tyne and Wear Metro today has been suspended.
A spokesman for Nexus - the firm behind the Metro - said that after extensive negotiations with trade union Unison, it had agreed employees would be consulted on a revised offer.
He said: "This is good news for the people of Tyne and Wear who won't now face a strike. This is a generous deal and focuses on increased productivity and substantial salary increases."
