EVERYTHING is turning Japanese at the National Railway Museum.
The NRM, in York, is celebrating the first anniversary of the Bullet train with an extravaganza of all things Oriental.
The train, also known as the Shinkansen, became a permanent feature at the museum a year ago and has since proved a huge hit with visitors.
From Saturday, for one week, there will be the chance to experience Japanese culture through workshops, demonstrations - and the hypnotic sounds of Mugenkyo, Europe's foremost Taiko drum group.
"The arrival of the Bullet train into the national collection has been a phenomenal success," said museum head Andrew Scott yesterday.
"We wanted to celebrate the anniversary of the first foreign exhibit to be displayed at the museum in style and an NRM Japan Week seemed perfect."
