THE finishing touches are being put to a popular annual flower show.
Gateshead Council is hoping for another record attendance at the Gateshead Summer Flower Show, due to open tomorrow at 10am, for three days of family fun and entertainment.
The show site, at Central Nursery, Whickham Highway, Lobley Hill, which is sign posted from the A1, will contain floral displays, children's entertainment, a craft fair and speciality foods in a giant marquee.
Keen gardeners will be able to watch floral art and spring flowering bulb demonstrations, while children will be kept occupied with face painting, street theatre, bouncy castles and music.
Other attractions will include the award-winning Chelsea Flower Show display by Gateshead Council and Newcastle City Council, promoting the joint Capital of Culture 2008 bid.
BBC Radio Newcastle's gardening team, Stan and Eddie, will be on site on Saturday and Sunday afternoon to answer queries and offer advice.
Admission to the event costs £6 for adults, £4.50 for concessions and is free for accompanied children under 18.
A free park and ride bus service will run every 15 minutes from the MetroCentre coach park.
