A TWO-WEEK trip and the responsibility of running a mini-business for his employer have given 20-year-old modern apprentice Michael Lee his dream job.
Mr Lee, from Durham City, joined Thermal Resources Management in Washington, Wearside, as a modern apprentice through the Learning and Skills Council County Durham less than two years ago.
He impressed managers so much that when a US company offered them its European agency, Mr Lee was given the chance to show he could take it on.
Doug Dooley, managing director for TRM, manufacturers of temperate management products used in nuclear power and aerospace applications, said of Mr Lee : "We were impressed with his reliability, honesty and willingness to put in more time and effort than he needed.
"He had to spend two weeks in America on a training programme and learn about commerce, shipping and exchange, as well as the product.
"He learnt fast and is doing an excellent job."
