Held at Wetherby Golf Club the quarterly meeting was preceded by a round of golf which was won with 40 points by Cedric Hall with John Dobinson and Alan Daffen returning 38 points to claim second and third positions. The Cyril Jones Pairs Salver was won by Cedric Hall and Paul Vayro.
Following dinner the meeting commenced with the president David Taylor in the chair. After welcoming members and the presentation of the prizes he handed over to the secretary, Brian Parker who under correspondence referred to the appointment by Thirsk and Northallerton of a new secretary Paul Sayro to replace Don Crompton.
The secretary reported that he had not received the results of the summer league competition which had only a week to run, and he urged club Rabbit secretaries to forward these as a matter of urgency.
The president reported that the match against Leeds Area played at Ripon City Golf club had been halved but the match against Leeds Area played at Howley Hall golf club had been lost by four matches to two. The president named the team for the Plowright Trophy to be played at Flamborough golf club on Thursday.
Bob Bishop the Harrogate Area representative on the Yorkshire YRGA reported that insurance was now in place to cover members competing in YRGA matches. He reported in the Thornton Trophy which had been played at Oakdale Golf Club when teams from all over the Yorkshire area had competed and that Oakdale had won with Bedale as runners up.
Discussion took place on the format for the competition and it was felt that because of the number of competitors a Stableford competition may be more appropriate than the present Medal round, and it was agreed to refer to the YRGA executive.
The annual dinner would be held at Bedale Golf Club on Friday November 8, The next executive meeting would be held at Otley Golf Club on Monday September 23.
