A PACKED grandstand at this year's Great Yorkshire Show witnessed a dream debut by Sophie Staveley and her mount Monivae Magic Rainbow.
The 12-year-old from Snainton, near Scarborough, and the 11.2hh coloured gelding, (pictured right) owned by Pat Dorman and her daughter Philippa Porley, produced a foot-perfect performance in the showing ring.
They stood top of a very competitive coloured ridden pony class before going on to take the championship.
The charming Welsh Section A-type gelding, who was also second in-hand, has enjoyed a fine season. He qualified for the Royal International Horse Show first time out and was recently junior champion and reserve supreme at CHAPS Midlands.
Magic Rainbow was found by chance at the famous Ballinasloe horse fair in Ireland, where Philippa, from Castleton, and her fiancee Philip Kirby were on holiday
