A FOOTBALL club is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a game against opposition from north of the border.
Whitehill Football Club, formed on Chester-le-Street's Whitehill estate will play the Edinburgh All Blacks on Saturday.
The Scottish team contacted the club after mistakenly logging onto its website while searching for another Edinburgh based Whitehill football team.
Treasurer Martin Winn said: "They contacted us by e-mail after posting congratulations on our 25th anniversary website."
Until now the club has played on a recreation area but in future will use the facilities at Chester-le-Street's Riverside Sports Stadium.
Mr Winn said: "This will be an exciting season. We hope everyone comes along and gives us their support like they have done for the past 25 years. It is a truly great achievement for such a small club."
The match starts at 1pm. Commemorative programmes will cost £1.
