A SCOUT group will be the beneficiary of Kevin Mackenzie's second coast-to-coast bike ride.
The 31-year-old, of Sandriggs, Darlington, raised £450 last year for St Teresa's Hospice. This year he wants to raise money for the 8th Darlington Scout group, at Cockerton, in memory of Scoutmaster Frank Beadle, who died last year. He hopes to raise £1,000 by cycling the 110 miles from Grange-over-Sands, in Cumbria, to Seaton Carew.
CHURCH EVENT: St James' Church, Hamsterley, is holding a fair on the village green tomorrow, at 2pm.
CREAM TEAS: Cream teas will be on offer tomorrow, from 2pm to 5pm, at Holly House, 30 The Lane, Sedgefield, in aid of the Alzheimer's Disease Society. There will also be a cake stall, plant sales, tombola, raffle and bric-a-brac. To donate plants, contact Sue Hannan on (01740) 629549.
COUNTRY NIGHT: Crook Cricket Club is holding a country and western night tomorrow, at 8pm. Tickets are £2 at the door and line dancers are welcome.
DARTS MEETING: Bishop Auckland Darts League holds its annual meeting at the Aclet pub on Tuesday, August 6, at 7.30pm.
COFFEE MORNING: A coffee morning and lunch is being held at Bishop Auckland Methodist Church, Cockton Hill, from 10am to 1.30pm, on Tuesday, August 6. Proceeds will be divided between the Torch Fellowship for the Blind and a Sierra Leone project to be decided upon later in the month.
FUNDRAISER: Willington Spiritualist Church is holding a summer fair tomorrow, from 10.30am to 1pm.
SUMMER FAIR: A summer fair will be held on Saturday, August 3, at 2pm, at Ted Fletcher Court, Salters Lane South, Darlington.
TABLE-TOP SALE: A table-top sale will be held at Witham Hall, Barnard Castle, next Wednesday, from noon to 2pm. Tables can be booked by calling (01325) 313924.
CRAFT FAIR: Bowes Village Hall will host a craft fair on Saturday, August 3, from 10am to 4pm. Proceeds will to village hall funds.
FUN DAY: There will be a fun day at Winston Playing Fields, on Saturday, August 3, starting at 2pm.
PHOTOGRAPHIC SHOW: An annual exhibition of photographs will take place at Middleton-in-Teesdale Village Hall, on Sunday, August 4, between 10am and 4pm. The event has been organised by the Teesdale Heritage Group.
MARKET DAY: A craft market will be held at the Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle, on Saturday, August 3, from 11am to 4pm. There will be a 10 per cent discount on the admission charge to the museum, which also admits the holder to the craft market. Call (01833) 690606 for details.
