EGTON residents are raising money to restore an historic mortuary chapel which has appeared in the Heartbeat TV drama.
The Eskdale community holds a seven- and three-mile fun-run on Saturday, August 31.
Proceeds will be divided between Cancer Research and the chapel at Glaisdale Lane.
Organiser Hilary Walker said: "St Hilda's Church at Egton doesn't have its own graveyard. The cemetery is on the edge of the village. It's really peaceful and there are beautiful views from it.
"The mortuary chapel is really pretty but in need of some work. I think it must be about 150 years old. There used to be another building there, which was demolished.
"It has been used as a location for the Heartbeat TV programme. Yorkshire Television has given us a Heartbeat goody-bag, which is part of the prize for the winner of the shorter run. Whoever wins the longer run will receive a trophy and lunch at the Grinkle Park Hotel."
