DARLINGTON firm Premier Decking Design has become the first business in the North-East to achieve accreditation under a nationwide quality assurance scheme called DeckMark.
Timber decks have shot to popularity in recent years and DeckMark was introduced two years ago by the Timber Decking Association to set the UK standard for materials and workmanship.
It is designed to give the public confidence when selecting materials or an installation contractor.
Under the scheme, firms are independently assessed for quality to ensure that they meet the standards necessary to create a timber structure that will provide years of pleasure.
Commenting on the quality award, Premier Decking Design's owner, Joe Peel, said: "We like to think that we do a good job, but achieving the DeckMark quality standard is independent proof that we are among the best in the business.
"All the hard work has been worth it - I'm delighted."
