PEOPLE living near schools in Darlington are being urged to be vigilant after three were raided in one night.
One school had a window broken on Monday night. Two others were broken into by burglars who are believed to have left empty-handed.
According to police, vandalism and theft raids on schools usually increase during the school summer holidays. With the schools break little more than a fortnight old, the problem has already started to manifest itself.
The window was broken at Eastbourne Comprehensive School. Darlington police received several calls from people saying they had heard the window being smashed. They are urging other people to contact them with information if they believe damage is being committed.
The two schools which were broken into were Beaumont Hill Special School and Hummersknott School and Languages College.
Anyone with information can contact police on (01325) 742108 or 742155, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
