Northallerton are on course for a championship double. The club's A team has already clinched the Division Five championship while the first team, already promoted from Division Four, are on the verge of taking their championship too.

Both Northallerton sides have yet to lose a match this season and in their latest clash the A side maintained their 100 per cent record with a 5.5-3.5 away win over West Tanfield.

The Tanfield side are battling with Harlow D for promotion from Division Five, with Tanfield currently a point behind their main rivals.

Northallerton A team won promotion at their first attempt from Division Six last season and seem likely to repeat the feat this term.

Their latest win over Tanfield was sealed thanks to a clean sweep of victories by former first teamer Malcolm Southam and Helen Couthard who won all three encounters.

Neil McLachlan and Rebecca Ellis won two rubbers while the partnership of John Padbury and skipper Cath Place halved their encounter.

Harrogate Racquets B team have clinched promotion to Division Two following their 5-4 home win over Harlow.

Racquets are now level on points with The Academy A team at the top of Division Three. The championship seems likely to be going to The Academy who have a vital match in hand on Racquets.
