A FAMILY that has worked tirelessly to raise money for research into a deadly brain condition after the death of their son has seen their funds boosted by £5,000.
Peterlee couple Carole and Brian Lister founded The Clarke Lister Brain Haemorrhage Foundation in 1996 after their son Clarke died from the disease.
Former Middlesbrough Football Club manager Bryan Robson, who is patron of the appeal, accepted the cheque on behalf of the foundation.
The money was raised by charity The Brat Pack at a golf tournament in Manchester. The charity chose the Foundation after learning of the death of ten-year-old Nicholas Geldard, whose family come from Manchester and are also helping the fund.
Allan James Tonner, of The Brat Park said: "Every year we choose a different charity for our golf day. After hearing of the Geldard and the Lister families' crusade, it was a unanimous decision to help.
"To lose a child is unbearable to think about, but to unselfishly put their own tragedies behind them and work positively towards helping others is outstanding.''
