* Durham and Cleveland player Sarah Borwell was beaten 6-4, 6-2 in the final of the Hastings Direct British Tennis Tour at Ilkley by South Wales player Rebecca Llewellyn.
Borwell, still not fully recovered from glandular fever, was made to move around the court by her gutsy 16-year-old rival in a match which at times reached a high quality.
Borwell had reached the final by defeating rising Yorkshire starlet 15-year-old Alice Mackenzie from Huddersfield 4-6, 6-2, 7-6.
Severe flooding caused 27 of the 29 events to be scrapped at Ilkley after the River Wharfe burst its banks, rushing across the 14 grass courts and car park to maroon the club house.
The only events completed were the men's and women's British Tour clashes in the worst wipe-out of the event's 106 year history. BBC Look North weatherman Paul Hudson had been asked to present the prizes.
However, the forecaster was asked not to bother turning up with only the silverware from two events to hand out.
