A NEW clock is to be installed in Guisborough despite objections that it will not be visible enough.
Permission has been granted for the clock, paid for by the Guisborough Town Pride residents' group, to be erected on the site of an earlier timepiece on the Halifax building in the town's Westgate.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council planning officer Doreen Meeling told a meeting of the planning committee on Wednesday that the clock would fit in with the surroundings and recommended approval for the clock at a meeting of the planning committee on Wednesday.
But Guisborough Town Council objected to the plans, arguing that the clock, which will be less than one metre in diameter, will not be lit up and will be black, would not be visible enough.
