Shildon: The end of the track and field season sees one of the club's senior coaches, Peter Davey moving on.
Peter has been Shildon's senior sprint coach for a number of years, and has guided many athletes to county, area, regional and national titles.
He has also taken charge of a couple of middle distance athletes over the past few years, including his son Ian. A member of the club for almost ten years, Peter has found it increasingly difficult to combine his work and club coaching commitments.
Whilst Peter is relinquishing his week to week club role, he will continue to guide a small number of athletes. The club would like to thank Peter for his work in the club over the years, and wish him every success with his future ventures.
Ian Young will take up the reins of the sprint group in the autumn and Shildon hope he can continue the good work.
On Sunday, July 28 it was the halfway point in the club's senior Grand Prix competition the eighth event being the Burton Leonard 10k unfortunately the club had only one runner which was Jackie Robinson where she claimed maximum points when she finished in 94th position in a time of 53.20.
The men's winner was Ian Fisher of Otley AC in a time of 3.3.43, first lady was Erica Rutter of Ripon Runners 25th overall in a time of 42.29.

The testing 10k course at Burton Leonard was made even more testing by the fact that the sun came out just before the race began and conditions were very hot for running. Dave Granger was 28th in 42.46, Ernie Huck 36th in 44.39, Ian Codling 101st in 54.23, Judith Seaton 129th in 59.26, Jo Fambely 150th in 66.13 and Marian Codling 157th in 71.07. The 162 finishers all received a very attractive T-shirt.
