SALTBURN'S bandstand and the decorative railings along South Bank's Golden Boy Green are among the winners of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's first design awards competition.
A panel of judges with representatives from architecture, landscape and planning picked the five winners. The other three were: The Innovated Centre offices at Kirkleatham, the Millennium Green at Grangetown and the restored former Co-op building in Loftus.
ARTS GROUPS: Youngsters from Topline Community Arts Project will be taken by limousine to Parklands, in Normanby, today for an evening of summer fun, including a barbecue, stilt-walking, magic and bouncy castles. SKY DIVE: Volunteers are needed to take part in a fundraising parachute jump in aid of Marie Cure Cancer Care. The jumps take place at British Parachute Association-approved airfields and dates are arranged to suit the individual. For details call (01904) 621000.
CHARITY RIDE: The Yorkshire Dragoon Rain Dancers' Motorcycle Club has raised £3,444.90 for Butterwick Children's Hospice in Stockton with a non-stop motorbike ride on a Honda 90 from Land's End to John O'Groats.
DANCE EVENING: The Speaker of Middlesbrough, Councillor Ken Hall, is appealing to local businesses to donate raffle prizes for a charity evening. The event, to raise funds for The Mission to Seafarers and the South Cleveland Holiday Fund, will take place on Friday, November 29, at the Ladle Hotel, Ladgate Lane. To help call (01642) 263657.
NOSTALGIA SHOW: Marske Pensioners and Friends will stage Nostalgia Show featuring Janie St John on Tuesday, at the Cheshire Home, on Redcar Road, in Marske, between 2pm and 4pm. Entrance costs £1 and will include tea and biscuits.
SCHOOL REUNION: A reunion for former pupils of Langbaurgh Secondary School who attended between 1967 to 1972 is being organised.
