It is a really big weekend for Murton and Hylton, who after meeting in today's top-of-the-table clash, are in opposition again at Ryhope tomorrow to decide the result of the Frank Lees Trophy.
First, though, the pair will concentrate all their thoughts on the 20 league points which are up for grabs and if neither wins, Peterlee could return to the top of the table tonight.
Despite having won one game less than Hylton, Murton have a two-point advantage over their rivals, who have a match in hand. Murton are unchanged from the side which drew last week's rain-affected fixture while Hylton cannot call upon influential early-order batsman David Batty who returns tomorrow.
"The next two days could make or break our season," said Murton official Herbert King.
"We have already won the D and P Andrew Dixon Cup and are in with a chance of the treble but on the other hand, it could all end during the weekend."
Peterlee, visiting Bill Quay, will no doubt be keeping a watchful eye on the outcome of their rivals' result.
They have Min Mahil and Harry Garraghan resuming and Bill Quay, who at fourth-from-top are in their highest position so far, show just one alteration with John Chamberlain taking over from David Earl.
At the other end of the table Houghton go to Ryhope minus Craig and Paul Elliott, Lee Husband and Gary Robinson.
They are likely to include a number of youngsters as do Ryhope, who will have four under-15s in their line-up.
Experienced quartet, professional Alan Dick, Kris Taylor, Chris Errington and James Taylor are all unable to play leaving the way open for John Errington, David Miller, Kristian Summerside and Jamie Whillans to show their potential.
Dawdon have high hopes of ending in the top half of the table and at Easington make just one change with Kevin McNicholas named in a side which includes several talented young players.
Boldon CA are without father and son David and Jason Jones because of football commitments and Ian Tinnion and Russell Johnson step up for the home match with Silksworth, who are at full strength.
Seaham Park, almost certain to avoid the wooden spoon after winning three times, take on Castle Eden and they too are able to field their first-choice side.
