A KEEN cyclist is taking to the coast to raise money for two charities close to his heart.
Alistair Campbell, of Halnaby Avenue, Darlington, is hoping to complete a bike ride between Whitehaven and Tynemouth to raise money for the Parkinson's Disease Society and St Teresa's Hospice, in Darlington.
Mr Campbell was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease 15 years ago and is unable to walk without crutches.
The money he raises from the 136-mile ride will be divided between the hospice and the Parkinson's Disease Society, which has set up a support group in Darlington.
Mr Campbell will be joined on the ride by two friends, Alan Anderson and Tom Tweddell.
