POLICE have released security camera pictures in their hunt for a man who allegedly committed an indecent act in a sports centre's female changing rooms.
A woman was left traumatised when she found out that she had undressed in Darlington's Dolphin Centre changing rooms last month, while a man was watching her, committing an indecent act.
Police have revealed that a man fitting a similar description ran off after being seen in the same first- floor changing rooms on Thursday night.
On that occasion, he was not believed to have been committing any indecent act.
A woman who saw him alerted staff, who carried out an immediate search of the building.
The two cases follow a report last October, in which a 23-year-old woman was the victim of a similar incident in the same changing rooms.
The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was getting changed alone when a man went into the changing rooms, committing an indecent act.
He then asked her to perform a sex act on him. When she started to scream, he said he had only been joking and left.
A Darlington Borough Council spokesman said: "We take this very seriously.
"We already have a lot of security in place at the Dolphin Centre. Staff keep an eye out and we have CCTV cameras, although not in the changing rooms, for obvious reasons.
"The centre is very busy, with more than a million visitors a year, and things like this happen very rarely. But staff have been told to be extra-vigilant, particularly after the incident last month."
Anyone with information about either of the incidents can call Darlington police on (01325) 467681 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
