A WOMAN driver was airlifted to hospital yesterday after her car crashed into a wall in Teesdale.
Police said the car had left the B6278 at Folly Top, as the woman drove towards Middleton-in-Teesdale.
The vehicle had spun around and hit the wall twice, said Inspector Dave Allaway, of Barnard Castle police.
He said: "The air ambulance was called because it was feared she had back injuries. She was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital, where it turned out to be whiplash which is less serious."
He said it had been raining and police were investigating to see if road conditions played a part in the accident.
