A Gateshead Labour Party group is launching a campaign to persuade pubs to sell cheaper soft drinks.
Bob Goldsworthy, of the Heworth and Pelaw Labour Party Action Team, said: "The team has been approached by members of the public objecting to the high prices that pubs charge.
"When people are being discouraged from drinking and driving it is very discouraging that pubs charge such high prices for soft drinks."
The action team is to contact local MPs, councils and other groups and individuals to get them to back the campaign.
"We are convinced that the majority of people will back our campaign," said Mr Goldsworthy.
"We will be organising a petition and other lobbying activities to get our point across to the pub owners."
Those interested in joining the campaign can contact Mr Goldsworthy on 0191-469 5082.
