A MOTORIST was cut free from his car by firefighters after it crashed into a wall.
The 38-year-old local man was rushed to Middlesbrough General Hospital with serious chest and head injuries after the accident just after 7am on Saturday.
Police said the driver's Volkswagen mounted a pavement and went into the wall of a building at the junction of Thorntree Road and Millbank Lane in Thornaby. The car and the building were both extensively damaged and officers are investigating the cause of the crash.
