YOUNGSTERS can knock summer holiday boredom for six at a cricket summer school this month.
Bowey Homes is sponsoring a week-long cricket school, including specialist coaching from some of the best cricket players and coaches in the region, at Ashbrooke Cricket Ground, Sunderland.
Youngsters aged 11 to 17, will be able to learn and develop fast bowling, wicket keeping, spin bowling, fielding and batting skills.
Sponsorship from Bowey Homes, which is building 30 apartments overlooking the ground, has brought down the cost for a place at the summer school down from £100 to £25.
Bowey Homes' apartments are named The Trafford, The Headingly and The Oval, after the famous cricket grounds.
Sales and marketing co-ordinator Penny Stewart said: "We wanted to support the cricket school to ensure that it was affordable to a wider audience. It is a fantastic opportunity for kids to get top class coaching and have some fun during the holidays."
Each youngster will be monitored throughout the week and advised how to improve their skills.
The fee also includes food and refreshments.
The summer school will run between 10am and 4pm from Monday to Friday next week.
The 50 places will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
