CHILDREN and their teddy bears enjoyed a day in the sun yesterday in the Bishop of Durham's front garden.
Auckland Castle, in Bishop Auckland, County Durham, welcomed hundreds of young visitors to a teddy bears' picnic on its front lawns.
Some curled up with their toys on a giant story bed to hear traditional tales and songs.
There were shows from the Fairly Famous Family, displays by the Ridgeside Falconry, Punch and Judy, face painting, rides, games and a chance to climb on board a fire engine.
The community services department of Wear Valley District Council organised the event.
A spokeswoman said: "Everybody had a brilliant time.
"It is a lovely place to hold the picnic and the children have enjoyed every minute."
