STEAM trains, which carry holidaymakers from York to Scarborough on nostalgia trips, should stop at Malton, say councillors.
Ryedale district councillor Brian Maud has suggested that people travelling on the twice weekly service could stop off in the town, but the West Coast Railway Company, of Carnforth, which runs the service said a stop in Malton would add to its running costs. However, the council is to have talks with the company in the hope of persuading it to reconsider its decision.
