FANS of magnificent flying machines will be converging on a rural airfield over the next bank holiday weekend for a show.
Featuring some of the biggest radio-controlled aircraft in the country, replicas of the world's fastest jets and First World War dogfight re-enactments, this year's Yorkshire Giant Model Spectacular is expected to be the best yet.
The event, held at Rufforth Airfield, near York, from August 24 to 26, is being staged with the support of the Large Model Association of Great Britain.
Among the attractions will be replicas of the Handley Page Victor V bomber, powered by real gas turbine engines, and a recreation of legendary fighter ace Douglas Bader's Bristol Bulldog.
Although a full-size Bulldog is displayed at the RAF museum in Hendon, London, no example capable of flying exists anywhere in the world.
Admission is £7 adults, £5 children, and further information is available on (01423) 867144
