COMPUTER users will be able to access council services through the Internet and other electronic channels, thanks to a joint venture between two North-East local authorities.
Newcastle City Council and Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council information technology (IT) departments are working together to provide a package enabling both authorities to develop e-forms and put them on the website.
The two councils use the same program - Lotus Notes - and have obtained an online data capture and processing product called Mandoforms, regarded as an "intelligent replacement" for the present HTML forms.
The product will allow the councils' IT departments to create user-friendly online forms quickly and easily.
They will also be able to design forms that are both visually appealing and functional, simplify the most complex forms and record user data safely and securely.
Online forms can be built easily and are simple to manage and maintain.
