NEXT weekend will be full of fun as Shildon hosts a bank holiday family event.
Show band The Piggies will start the activities at Shildon Leisure Centre on Saturday.
The show has been organised by Thickley ward Labour Party, in aid of the Butterwick Hospice at Bishop Auckland. Tickets, priced £5, are selling fast so call (01388) 777340 for reservations.
The main day of events, Sunday, starts with a 2.8 mile fun run from Sunnydale Leisure Centre.
The winner of the junior race will receive a mountain bike and the first adult past the finish line at Jubilee Fields Community Centre will land £100 cash. Every runner will receive a medal and certificate. Entry is £2.50 for children and £3.50 for adults.
Attractions at the community centre include a fairground, falconry display, pipe band, magicians, Punch and Judy show, stilt walkers and vintage and classic cars.
There will also be a dog show at 11.30am, and an open horse equestrian event, from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
