SUMMER SHOW: The annual summer show is held from Saturday to Monday, August 24 to 26, at Preston Park, Eaglescliffe.
There will be stalls, sideshows, a funfair, trade stands, a food court, fully licensed bar and a full arena programme. Parking is free and admission costs £1.50 for adults, £1 for concessions with free admission for children under five. The show jumping starts on the Friday, with affiliated classes running from Friday to Sunday and includes BSJA qualifiers from Wembley Festival of Show Jumping. OUT OF THIS WORLD: Take part in the planets/space themed craft sessions at Egglescliffe Library on Tuesday, August 20, from 11am to noon, or Yarm library on Wednesday, August 21, from 2pm to 3pm. The events are free but numbers are limited so please see a member of staff to book a place. Call (01642) 391840 for Egglescliffe and (01642) 391843 for Yarm for more information. Children aged under five must be accompanied by an adult throughout the event and children under eight must be accompanied to and from the event.
HOLIDAY CRAFTS: Creepy crawlies and butterflies provide the theme for family fun at Preston Hall Museum on Friday. There will be the opportunity to try different crafts and puzzles as well as making a 3D butterfly and follow an insect trail around the museum. The event runs from 10.30am to 3.30pm. Admission costs 60p for an accompanied child and £1.20 for an adult. Family tickets are also available.
FUND RAISING: North Tees NHS Trust has thanked Egglescliffe School pupils for their donations totalling £1,000, for the North Tees University Hospital. The pupils held a variety of events to raise money including a sponsored head shave, a Christmas card sale and a mime concert. The money has helped the trust to buy six nebulisers to treat children with cystic fibrosis.
LADIES' CLUB: Ladies are invited to go along and make new friends at Egglescliffe Community Centre, Durham Lane, Eaglescliffe. The ladies section meets on alternate Thursday evenings, starting at 7.45pm, for a variety of talks, socials and demonstrations. The autumn/winter programme starts on September 5, with "what did you do in the war Gran?"
DANCE DATE: All are welcome to take part in sequence dancing at the Egglescliffe Community centre, Durham Lane, Eaglescliffe, on Tuesday evenings from 8pm to 10.30. Admission is £1 and for further information contact (01642) 890311.
Hawes TRIP: Egglescliffe St John's Church outing this summer is a bus trip to Hawes and will be on September 1. Consequently, there will only be an 8am service that day.
CHARITY CONCERT: Irish folk band Wild Cats Of Kilkenny play at Preston Park, Eaglescliffe, on Saturday, August 24, in aid of the Butterwick Hospice. Tickets costing £8.50 are selling fast for this event. Call Sarah Eldon on (01642) 624231.
BIKE EVENT: More than 10,000 bike enthusiasts turned up at Preston Park, Eaglescliffe for Ridewell 2002. Among the attractions were the Guisborough and District Motorcycle Club and Teesside stunt ace, Sonnie Ferguson.
