ECHOES of Willington's rich industrial heritage are being captured in a new sculpture being given pride of place in its revamped town centre.
Willington Community Partnership and youth group members have worked with Hunwick artist Graeme Hopper on designs for the four-metre-high feature which will stand on a newly paved area in the High Street.
It will link with two new entrance features proposed for the town which are waiting to be given planning permission.
The Single Regeneration Budget is also funding the project, with support from Groundwork West Durham.
