A DOG that lost a leg in a road accident needs a new home.
Flick, a labrador-cross, was badly injured by a car in the Neasham Road area of Darlington three weeks ago.
A passer-by took pity on the dog and took it to the Stanhope Park veterinary surgery, in Stanhope Road, where one of its hind legs was removed.
Staff at the veterinary practice contacted the RSPCA, which paid for Flick's treatment, and the dog is now being housed in one of the charity's foster homes.
Auxiliary nurse at Stanhope Park, Jemima Hitchin, said: "She is lovely dog and she has a great character. Flick has a lovely nature and is very gentle. We had to remove one of her legs, but she is still bombing around. We did not want her to go into kennels as we thought that she might get overlooked."
The vets are looking for a caring family who are willing to take in Flick, who is eight months old.
