EXCITEMENT is growing as children rehearse for a musical to be staged at the Darlington Arts Centre at the weekend.
The musical What a Load of Rubbish is being produced during a week-long workshop.
It will be a performed as part of the Tuned In Family Music Weekend at the arts centre, in Vane Terrace.
The whole event has got children from a number of schools and adults involved in a variety of musical activities.
Many talented musicians, amateur and professional, have worked together to make the Family Music Weekend possible.
With help from the National Federation of Music Societies and Darlington Borough Council, the event is the first of its kind in the country.
Celeste Hicks, who has been involved in the initiative, said: "There has already been a really good response to the event and if it is successful then it will be repeated in the future."
All the performances and workshops at Darlington Arts Centre on Saturday and Sunday are free, although some places may be limited.
