A SKATEPARK will be unveiled at the end of this month, bringing months of hard work to fruition.
Work started on the skatepark, in Hackworth Park, Shildon, earlier this year, after a successful bid to Sport England for £76,000 to fund the project.
After a vote among the town's youngsters, it was agreed to name the park High Five. It will be used as a sporting facility for skating, skate boarding and bikes.
The skatepark will be opened on Friday, August 30, at 11am. The opening ceremony will feature demonstrations and musical entertainment. There will also be a competition in which users of the park will be invited to show off their skills.
