THE prosperity of residents living in Yarm has pushed the area into the top three of the region's most affluent places.
Stockton South, which includes Yarm, has come out third in a list of regional high earners compiled by Barclays.
The report, based on Barclays' eight million current account customers, shows the area has 3.1pc of people earning £60,000 or more a year, the figure that Barclays deems as where the "affluent bracket begins".
Top place goes to Hexham, with 4.6pc, followed by Central Newcastle (4.4pc).
But the region does not come close to the wealthy south of the country, with nowhere making it into the top 50 and left trailing in the wake of the likes of Kensington and Chelsea (12.5pc), Beaconsfield (10.9pc) and Richmond Park (10.4pc).
