Spennymoor & District Friendly League
There were 24 entries into the League Singles Championship held at Wolviston King's Arms with Terry Flett of the host club emerging as the winner.
Two of the quarter-finals brought tough matches. In the first the teenage stars of Stockton Elm Field, Paul Middleton and Michael carter met and produced some brilliant play before Paul edged into the semi-final. In the other very notable quarter final Terry Flett played teammate, Brian Dunn. Again spectators were treated to a nail biting, high-class match before Terry won through.
In the semi-finals Terry Flett met Harry Williams of Stockton Elm Tree and won his way to the Final. In the other semi-final, young Paul Middleton went down to Ian Catterson of the host club.
The Final was played in near darkness but it did not deter Terry Flett who went through to a comfortable victory over Ian Catterson.
