A NORTH-EAST university is celebrating after getting more than £1m to offer fully-funded places to postgraduate students next month.
The European Social Fund (ESF) award to Sunderland University means that 300 postgraduates, from the school of computing and technology's full-time postgraduate programme, will have their course fees paid and each will get a bursary of £75 a week for 45 weeks.
It covers all of the schools' masters programmes, advanced programmes for people who are already qualified in computing, engineering and technology, and also courses which enable students from other disciplines to transfer into areas with excellent job prospects.
Norman Parrington, associate dean of the school, said: "We are delighted to have secured this funding, which allows us to continue to enhance our already strong reputation for providing local industry with highly motivated students with leading edge skills."
