A NORTHALLERTON community centre will be given a new identity when it reopens after extensive refurbishment next month.
Hambleton Community Centre will be renamed the Hambleton Forum when the £400,000 refit has been completed.
The building will boast better meeting facilities, better access for people with special needs, a new wooden floor and tiered seating.
The new name was selected from more than 80 suggestions from staff, councillors and the public.
"Changing the centre's name will give the refurbishment programme an extra boost," said council leader, Councillor June Imeson. "It will still be used by community groups but we hope the new look will make it more attractive as a conference, workshop and arts venue."
A week-long arts festival will mark the re-launch at the end of next month.
