GARDENERS at Kirkbymoor-side have won agreement over their allotments after a two-year battle.
After a wrangle with North Yorkshire County Council and its agent, Mouchel, Kirkbymoorside Allotments Association has been told it can have a ten-year lease on the 3.5-acre Gillamoor Road allotments site. But hopes of buying the site have been dashed.
Association chairman Nev-ille Kirby said: "The county council has indicated that it wants to retain the site and not sell it, and has decided to offer us a ten-year lease."
