Shildon: Ben Finn rounded off of his season when he competed on Saturday, August 10 at the AAA U20 and U23 Championships held at the Alexander Stadium, Birmingham.
Ben competed in the U17 boys 800m semi-finals although not achieving a personal best time he had a decent run to finish fourth in a time of 2.02.
The following day at the Darlington 10k seven senior athletes competed and first back for the club was Adam Ingram in 79th in time of 39.38, next came John Hewitson 172nd in 43.08, then first lady Jackie Robinson in 372th in 48.14, followed by Phil Crow in 403rd in 48.56.
John Gray was 582nd in a time of 54.22, followed by Julie Ingram in 628th in a time of 56. 42 and finally Dorothy Borrowdale in 684th with a time of 58. 58.
In the Junior 3.5k race Matthew Hewitson had a good run to finish in sixth place in a time of 13.58, with younger brother Simon first back in the Fun Run.
* The junior middle distance group who compete in cross country events over the autumn and winter season resume training at the Stadium 2000 on Monday and Wednesday and Friday evenings at 6pm. Old and new members welcome. The Seniors cater for both men and women of all standards who take part in road races especially those training for the Great North Run in October and cross country, also eight to 11 years train on Wednesday nights 6-7.30pm. Crook and District: Despite a valiant final effort the Mens Veteran Team were unable to win the team Track & Field title for a third time and had to settle for second place. Great praise though to all the team members.
At the Darlington 10k road race Malcolm Ingram performed well , finishing third O-45 in a time of 35.45, Kevin Allen ran a PB in 37.31, Gerry Hehir also ran a PB of 41.04 whilst the husband and wife team of Martyn and Sharon Lowrie ran 40.34 and 55.25 respectvely.
