A £186,000 investment has been made at a Co-op in Barnard Castle.
The store in Horsemarket has been relaunched following a refit.
The unit is now trading as a Welcome store where the focus is on fresh food and convenience lines.
Included in the modernisation programme were redecoration, a new floor and an enlarged wines and spirits section.
In addition, customers will benefit from the introduction of a non-food section offering a wide range of electrical goods and a newspaper and magazine section.
North-Eastern and Cumbrian Co-op regional chief executive Neil Arnold said: "This is the latest in a string of developments by our food group.
"The Welcome store conversions across our convenience store sector have proved extremely popular with customers with many showing significant increases in sales."
