TWO flower shows are being held in Darlington over the next month.
The first takes place on Monday, August 26, at St Cuthbert's Church Hall, in the town's Market Square.
An open show with 32 classes, it allows exhibitors to show chrysanthemums, dahlias, roses, gladioli, sweet peas and pot plants, and compete for six trophies and medals.
On September 14, a second show will be held at the Central Hall in the Dolphin Centre, with 68 classes and 29 trophies.
The show also features the Gardeners Barn Challenge Class, which allows exhibitors to show a floral display, incorporating any kind of flowers, but which must include chrysanthemums or dahlias.
Kelvin Vincent, secretary of Darlington Chrysanthemum and Dahlia Society, said: "This is a chance for those who may have attended classes, whether experienced or beginners, to prepare an exhibit. We are very keen to see a few more exhibitors in these classes.
"There are also two classes for children, giving them the chance to take part in a competition and win a bit of extra pocket-money."
