A FRUSTRATED student was still waiting for an A-level result last night - with little hope of it appearing over the weekend.
While thousands of students were celebrating record A-level pass rates, Lyndsay Angus, 19, of Darlington, was still nervously awaiting the result of her English Language exam.
Lyndsay, a student at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, in Darlington, had gone to collect her results on Thursday and been rewarded with an A in biology and B in German.
But her celebrations were put on ice when it said "pending" where her English Language grade should have been.
Fortunately, Lyndsay has secured a place at her first choice York University to study German and linguistics. But she said the mix-up had spoiled her day and she was still on tenterhooks wondering what grade she had received.
George Turnbull, a spokesman for the Assessment and Qualifications Alliance, the exam board responsible, said a problem with her paper had since been resolved and it had been regraded.
"Whenever there's a change made if there's a university concerned, it will be passed on to Ucas," he said.
"Obviously, whatever the problem was, we apologise if it was our fault."
