TOP water skiers, including Mick Arries, from Widdrington, Northumberland, took to the River Tees at the weekend to compete in the Northern Regional Water Ski Championships.
Families who headed to the Tees Barrage in Stockton were able to bask in warm sunshine as they watched competitors from around the north, including juniors, who competed in slalom skiing and trick skiing. The event was organised by the Teesside Water Ski Club and supported by Stockton Borough Council and British Waterways. It attracted more than 100 competitors. Yesterday's events were filmed by Sky television, which plans to broadcast the event later in the year.
