AN Army corporal will be setting off on a mission with a difference when he visits football grounds throughout the country to raise funds for the Twin Towers' Orphan Fund.
Corporal Terry Twining plans to run to every Premiership ground in England, covering 600 miles in 21 days. His effort will coincide with the start of the 2002-03 season when he hits the ground running in Newcastle and Sunderland, on Friday.
He will pass through Middlesbrough the following day, before continuing on to London and completing his challenge on September 11 - marking the first anniversary of the terrorist attack on the United States.
On his arrival at each city, Cpl Twining and his team will visit the main shopping areas with collection buckets.
Cpl Twining, who comes from Northern Ireland, said: "I have raised well over £20,000 for charity over the years and I wanted to do more.
"This is the first time an event like this has been carried out. A representative of the Guinness Book of Records will observe me for the route, so I hope to set a world record."
